Six Must-Have Shopify Apps

Conversio

Formerly Receiptful, Conversio takes over all customer communication after they’ve placed an order. Conversio was originally founded because the founders realized the receipt was the email with the highest open rate — and very underutilized. These emails are usually in a basic format with no content other than the receipt details. Conversio wondered how these emails could be used more effectively.

Conversio grew from providing content-rich receipt emails to get reviews, upsell, and build a company’s brand to now, where they’re also producing engagement emails and communication throughout a customer’s lifetime, including abandon cart follow-ups.

Conversio is easy to use, with templates in place for all their emails or the ability to design your own. All emails are sent based on customer triggers that you define.

Klaviyo

Klaviyo is a full-fledged email marketing automation platform. It provides marketing automation for multiple ecommerce platforms, like BigCommerce, WooCommerce, and Magento, but it also has a deep integration with Shopify and Shopify Plus.

Klaviyo inputs all the data from your store, including order history, customer data, and behavior, so you can create highly segmented email lists to target. Yotpo handles reviews on your store. Social proof is essential on your site, and Yotpo makes it easy to request reviews from your customers and for them to fill the reviews out. Yotpo sends emails to your previous customers to request product-specific reviews as well as to all customers going forward. It also enables you to manage your reviews and handles syndication, pushing reviews out to Google and other search engines automatically so they’re available through a broad set of channels.

Bold Upsell

Bold is one of the top app developers in Shopify’s app store. They have several apps — all very high quality. Among these is Bold Upsell. This app allows you to set up logic-based upsells in the last step of checkout. The app does this one thing, but it does it really well.

It’s not like upsells are a new concept. We all remember when McDonald’s started asking if we wanted fries with that. Although the answer is often a resounding yes, this is often underutilized in the ecommerce world. Bold Upsell can help with that.

We recently had a client install Bold Upsell. They set up a basic upsell at checkout, and the next week they had a 30% increase in revenue. This might seem extraordinary, but consider that 40–80% of purchases are a result of impulse buying. If that doesn’t convince you, I don’t know what will.

Recurring Orders (Bold)

Recurring Orders, also by Bold, handles subscriptions and recurring orders, something that hasn’t always been handled well by ecommerce platforms. Thanks to this app, it’s easy to do recurring billing and subscription products in Shopify — especially relevant now with the subscription business model booming.

SC Product Options (Bold)

We couldn’t craft a list of must-have Shopify apps without including SC Product Options. While this app may seem simple, it’s incredibly useful and relevant for those that need it. In Shopify, there’s a limit to how many fields (or options) a product in the system can carry. This poses an issue for companies focused on personalization or customization (building your own gift box, for example). SC Product Options allows you to add all the options you want to your product without having to consider the normal limits.
